Tehachapi Community Theatre announces Auditions for the 2nd Annual Playwrights Festival.  Ages listed are the character ages, not necessarily the actor age. The play dates are October 1, 2, and 3. Auditions are August 27 at 6:30 and 28 at 3:00 pm. Auditions will be at TCT Second Space, 431 W. J Street.

Also needed are 2 more directors.

The plays:

PIE US:  1 man, 1 woman, mid 20’s, 1 woman 40’s to 50’s.  Adam has dinner at the same diner every night.  One evening, he notices a delicious apple pie on the counter.  The waitress informs him that the cooks pies are so good, they are not eaten.  Enter Eve, a voluptuous vixen and all hell breaks loose.

EGGS:  1 man, 1 woman mid 20’s.  Barbara is an “Old fashioned” girl, who is into “relationships”, but wants to be more sexually adventurous.  Randy is a drummer in a band who has fantasies about being a sexual object.  After a “liaison” they “revert to type”.  Barbara see this as a start of a romance, while Randy wants to escape with his fantasy in tact.

WHATEVER I WANT:  2 women late teens, early 20’s.  Rita is dying and has been allowed to plan her own funeral.  Elizabeth, Rita’s older sister, is helping her, but doesn’t think Rita is taking it seriously.  Whose funeral is it anyways?

GROUNDS FOR CONSPIRACY:  3 men, 2 women (2 men and 2 women in their 70’s to 80″s, 1 man mid 40’s).  John, Fran and Eunice spend each morning at the same coffee shop discussing senior life.  One morning, an elderly man with a walker enters the shop with a gun.  The shop owner doesn’t take him seriously and suggest he relaxes while he looks for cash in the back room.  The robber convinces the other three that crime is the way to go.

THE OPENING:  5 men, 2 women (with extras).  All his life, Billy was sure about his sexuality.  Now, he discovers the he is not the person he thought he was and must inform his parents and friends.

ANTIQUES:  2 men (1 mid 40’s, 1 mid 60’s), 1 woman (mid 40’s).  Ethan and Colleen, childhood sweethearts, are on vacation in Boston when they come across an antiuqes store.  More a curiosity and memorabilia store than antiques.   They start to notice that the items look very familiar… from their own childhood?  Is it possible? Past and present unite at the end in a nostalgic and eerie way.

THE PEOPLES PRADA: 1 woman (mid 50’s) 1 man (late 20’s).  A Beverly Hills widow decides it is time for the reluctant stepson to move out.

LEMONADE WITH A TWIST: 1 man (30’s) 1 woman (60’s).  An elderly woman calls the automobile club to get her car started.  A man shows up, and the elderly woman invites him in for some lemonade.  It soon comes out that she dosen’t own a car and just calls different companies to get someone over for companionship.    Their conversation turns to people in the neghiborhood disapering, but who is the suspect?
