Director Shanan Harrell is looking for 10 WOMEN and 6 MEN for this unique retelling of the iconic
story of life on Nurse Ratched’s ward at the Oregon State Mental Hospital, 1965.
*PLEASE NOTE: there’s a significant twist with this production as it will be PREDOMINATELY FEMALE.
The patients of the Oregon State Mental Hospital, including Chief McBroom and R.P. McMurphy, will
be played by women. (Nurse Ratched remains female.) The ward doctor and aides will be played by
men, as will the prostitutes in Act 2.

CHIEF McBROOM (Female) 40+ - Native American narrator of play; masquerading as deaf/mute
R.P. McMURPHY (Female) 40+ - ex-prostitute, petty criminal, grifter; recent transfer from State
BILLIE (Female) 30+ - insecure stutterer with mother issues
HARDING (Female) 35+ - well-spoken intellectual with sexuality issues SCANLON (Female) 30+ -
CHESWICK (Female) 40+ - pessimist with anger issues MARTINI (Female) 40+ - prone to serial
hallucinations RUCKLY (Female) 40+ - Jesus complex

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest opens June 5 and runs for three consecutive weekends with Sunday
matinees on the final two weekends. This show is rated R for adult language and situations.
